TIPS FOR NAIL FUNGUS PREVENTION
- Be certain of the correct diagnosis by seeing a dermatologist
- Keep toeails cut short so as to minimize trauma and injury
- Wear shoes that fit properly and alternate shoes
- Use antifungal cream on the feet to prevent fungal infection of the foot
- Use antifungal powder to control perspiration
- Treat nail fungus to prevent complications especially in diabetics and immunocompromised people
- Take proper tests
- Wash and dry feet properly
- Don’t share the clippers and files
- Cleanse all foot instruments with alcohol
- Never wear someone else’s shoes
- Avoid being barefoot in public places like pools
- Avoid wearing tennis shoes as regular shoes
- Use antifungal sprays and powders in the shoes weekly
- Wear “outside shoes” for outside work
