Skincare Tips During Lockdown
Hope you are all practicing social distancing. During this national lockdown, our patients are not able to visit me and even my international patients are also stuck. Once this lockdown is over, we will be meeting soon in person. Till then we are going to provide here some quick information for one and all about SKINCARE TIPS DURING LOCKDOWN.
During this phase of national lockdown, we are doing online consultation for both our old follow up patients as well as new patients. Many patients are facing dullness, uneven skin tone and dryness of skin. To address & overcome these problems, we need to follow some important steps:
• Kick start your day with 2-3 glasses of water first thing in the morning; one can add lemon juice, amla juice, apple cider vinegar, seabuckthorn juice, wheatgrass juice–whatever routine one follows. Few beauty conscious can opt for different kinds of BEAUTY DETOX WATERS AS PER THEIR CHOICE. Now that you are free –you can make a big glass pitcher in the morning and consume it slowly during the whole day.
• While bathing, one can use a body and face scrub suggested by your dermatologist which will help exfoliate superficial dead cells and leaves skin bright, soft and supple. It helps in removing body tan as well.
• Usually, we wash our face twice a day. But now a days during lockdown, the ladies are doing quite a lot of cooking with everybody being at home and no house-helps in the picture. So, more kitchen time, more oil production on the face and hence, thrice a day face wash regime should be followed to avoid exacerbation of existing acne as well as to avoid fresh breakout due to clogged pores. One can use medicated charcoal mask and scrubs thrice a week as prescribed by your dermatologist to prevent clogging of pores and maintain healthy glowing skin.
• One should not forget moisturiser prescribed as per your skin type - cleansing should be followed by a SPF 50 sunscreen. Don’t forget your sunscreen at home as YOUR COOKING GAS, MOBILES, IPAD, Display Monitors all emit radiation.
So, SUNSCREEN AT HOME IS A BIG YES !
• DIET
i) Drink tons of water every day
ii) Avoid alcohol, smoking, caffeine, effervescent soft drinks; rather switch to fresh juice, coconut water, buttermilk
iii) Add nuts, seed mix to your morning porridge
iv) As we all are at home, don’t forget fruits especially citrus fruits like oranges and water filled fruits like watermelon. One can experiment with different healthy mocktails or smoothies using all the available fruits at home. They add hydration to our skin and maintain electrolyte balance.
v) One should not miss the daily shot of probiotic i.e. one bowl of curd per day.
vi) You can add a healthy soup in the evening supper according to the availability of vegetables during the lockdown.
Utilize this lockdown time to make your skin glow and brighter as we are not going out, so no work stress & no pollution. Thus, Eat Healthy, Drink Well & Sleep Tight!
• Care of Hands
Even though our husbands and kids are helping us out but still we ladies need to do lots of household chores. Dear ladies, please keep your hands moisturized in the kitchen. Moisturize your hands everytime you leave the kitchen so that after lockdown is over, you don’t end up with bad Hand Eczema.
• Night Skincare Regime
At night, after face wash, don’t forget to use your moisturizer on the face, neck, hands, arms followed by your antiaging serum or cream as prescribed by your dermatologist.
• Feet care
Do moisturize your feet as well. Take care of your CRACKED feet if any; don’t forget to apply your footcare cream.
• Finally the BEAUTY SLEEP — it’s very important to have minimum 8 hours of nap — mandatory for all. It boosts your immunity. To reduce mental stress, one can have Chamomile Tea half an hour before sleeping.
Trust me, it works magically!
